Feeling the Future Talk with Cheryl Chung

Are we giving young people the tools to be brave? How can we get them engaged and encourage a proactive authorship of the future that we all inevitably share?

In this livestream conversation with Honor Harger (Executive Director, ArtScience Museum), Cheryl Chung (Co-Director of Executive Education at Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore) will discuss why futures can be a safe place, and how to democratise tools for hope and impart them to youth so they can design the future.

Cheryl Chung heads the executive education department at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore and together with a team, is building the futures research and teaching capabilities at the School with the ‘Future Ready Singapore’ project. Her interests focus on the intersection of technology, economic and regulatory policy and on capability development in futures thinking for policy makers. Cheryl is also one of the co-editors of the The Birthday Book (2018 and 2019), a collection of essays exploring the established and emerging stories of Singapore.

About the Exhibition

2219: Futures Imagined explores the possible futures of Singapore 200 years from now through a series of immersive installations, meditative spaces, films, paintings and sculptures. Inspired by the work of Singaporean writer and poet Alvin Pang, the exhibition is neither a utopian or dystopian view of the distant future and instead focuses on small, human-scale acts of innovation and contemplation. 2219: Futures Imagined intends for visitors to reflect on what kind of future they want for Singapore, and what actions they may be prepared to take in order to bring that future into being.
