2219 Conversations: Feeling the Future is programme of talks that examines the human capacity to imagine new futures in a world where uncertainty and anxiety is prevalent. Speakers Richard Hassell (architect, artist and Co-founding Director of WOHA), Ariel Muller (Managing Director, APAC at Forum for the Future) and Tong Yee (Co-Founder and Director of The Thought Collective) will share their perspectives on how emotions play a role in helping us map the future.

About 2219 Conversations

2219 Conversations is a series of lively talks about possible futures and alternative histories which takes place alongside ArtScience Museum’s 2219: Futures Imagined during the exhibition period. Previous speakers include John Akomfrah (artist), Jon Ardern (Co-founder and Director of Superflux), Songyu Bao (artist), Finbarr Fallon (architectural photographer and artist), Adeline Kueh (artist), Chor Pharn Lee (futurist), Alvin Pang (poet, author and editor), Lisa Park (artist), and Scott Smith (futurist and founder of Changeist).

Speakers

  • Richard Hassell —— Architect, Artist and Co-founding Director of WOHA

    Richard Hassell is an Australian-born architect and artist who has lived in Singapore since 1989. He founded WOHA with Wong Mun Summ in 1994. The architectural practice have gained global recognition for their integration of environmental and social principles at every stage of the design process.

  • Ariel Muller —— Managing Director, APAC at Forum for the Future

    Ariel Muller, based in Singapore, is Managing Director for Asia Pacific at Forum for the Future. Forum for the Future uses a range of approaches including futures, systems thinking, and human-centred design to create innovation programmes that accelerate the transition to a sustainable economy.

  • Tong Yee —— Co-Founder and Director of The Thought Collective

    Tong Yee is a social entrepreneur and civil society leader in Singapore who is sought after as an inspiring and innovative thought leader in the area of community and organisational development. He now leads The Thought Collective — one of the largest groups of social enterprises in Singapore.
