The stars shone bright on 21st April as Chris Evans (Captain America), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Anthony Mackie (avian Avenger The Falcon) and film director Joe Russo made exclusive appearances at Marina Bay Sands for the Southeast Asia Blue Carpet & Premiere of the crunching action blockbuster – Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War.
The stars hit the blue carpet at The Skating Rink at 8pm, sparking cheers and screams from the thousands of fans packed across all three levels of the Shoppes – some who began queuing for prime positions from as early as 7am. Team Cap looked dashing as they flashed charismatic smiles and waved to the crowd, posing for selfies and signing autographs for fans.
When asked whether he loves Singapore as much as Singapore loves him, Chris Evans glanced at the cheering crowd before replying. "The feeling is hard to match, but I think I could!"
Meanwhile, Anthony Mackie looked directly into the camera and issued his challenge: "Hey, Iron Man! Beat this."
Anthony Mackie On The Blue Carpet: "You can't do better than Singapore"
Sebastian Stan On The Blue Carpet: "I don't ever want to go back"
Joe Russo On The Blue Carpet: "I've fallen in love with the city"
Joined on stage by special needs children as well as some lucky fans, the #TeamCap crew was presented with special gifts from the children in Marina Bay Sands' charity programme.
Building up to the star-studded event was a cosplay contest held at 6pm, where dozens of fans donned blue and took up their shields to show their support for #TeamCap. Adding even more to the fanfare, Hot Toys, a high-end collectible figures company, presented life-size statues of Captain America and Iron Man Mark XLVI.
Marvel's Captain America: Civil War is the sequel to Marvel's Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) and Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014). The film follows on from the events in Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and sees the Avengers split into two rival camps. Team Cap and Team Iron Man will go head-to-head in the ultimate superhero showdown, climaxing in an action-packed 17-minute airport fight sequence.
Marvel's Captain America: Civil War opens in cinemas on 28 April 2016.
