Crazy Rich Asians Marina BayCrazy Rich Asians Marina Bay

It’s no secret Crazy Rich Asians has won global attention for being the first movie since 1993’s The Joy Luck Club to feature an all-Asian cast.

But for all the talk that’s surrounding it – based off the first of three novels by Kevin Kwan, and brought to (cinematic) life by director Jon M. Chu – much has been said about the scenes set in Singapore. The Marina Bay area and, particularly, Marina Bay Sands, has come to the fore with two key scenes shot in the integrated resort's Sands SkyPark, which sits 57 storeys up from the heart of the city.

Nick Young (Henry Golding) and Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) lit up the night at rooftop bar, lounge and restaurant CÉ LA VI, set to a backdrop of synchronised dancers in the the 150-metre-long rooftop Infinity Pool. Then there was that Observation Deck scene in which tongues were set wagging.

What went on behind the scenes, though? Golding, Wu, Michelle Yeoh and Awkwafina offer their two cents on what makes the film shine, apart from its opulence and the sometimes dangerous world of crazy rich Asians.
