Singapore International Jazz Festival (Sing Jazz) is back for the 3rd year at Marina Bay Sands. From 4 to 6 March, catch headlining acts such as Grammy award winner Joss Stone and Cuban legends Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club. Over 3 days, the music festival will bring together world-class artists to harness the creative energy that is the essence of Jazz, and indeed of Singapore itself!

Expect jazz and hip-hop influence from one of the most progressive bands out of Toronto. The trio had their big international break in 2012 when they opened for Roy Ayers, who performed at Sing Jazz 2015, at the Nujazz Festival as well as Giles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards in London.

Charlie Lim

The young Singaporean singer-songwriter has more than just girls swooning at his feet when he performs. Also a multi-instrumentalist and producer, Charlie Lim enthrals audiences each time he performs his unique mix of acoustic, post-rock, indie-R&B and electo-pop music. Since dropping his self-titled debut EP in 2011, Charlie has done a seven-city tour in Asia and snagged the top spot on the iTunes Singapore chart within an hour of releasing his latest album, Time/Space.

A born and bred Singaporean electronic music label, Darker Than Wax breaks all bounds and grounds progressing the music scene. They tirelessly push for diversity in music, proving that categories and genres are irrelevant. This year, Sing Jazz is working with the collective to curate and host Friday evening’s line-up which include Darker Than Wax Sound System and the below-mentioned names.

Described as future-soul, the quartet from Melbourne, Australia, infuses a cocktail of cultures in the creation of their music, attracting a cross-section of lovers of all ages. Crediting Taylor McFerrin for discovering them, the band from Down Under will be one of the most exciting acts to watch this SingJazz.

Taylor McFerrin

DJ, music producer, keyboardist and beat-boxer, Taylor McFerrin is an all-rounder who brings a different soul to the jazz scene. The son of Sing Jazz 2015 performer and 10 time Grammy award winner Bobby McFerrin, Taylor has received accolades for his debut LP Early Riser, where he also collaborated with Nai Palm from Hiatus Kaiyote.

Candy Dulfer

Dutch saxophonist Candy Dulfer is known for her powerful and high-energy concerts, performing with her band across the world in sold-out clubs and on the largest festival stages. She rose to fame with high profile collaborations with Dave Stewart (‘Lily was here’) and Prince, received a Grammy Award nomination for her debut album ‘Saxuality’, sold over 2.5 million albums worldwide since, and has had several number 1 hits in the USA.

Incognito

This will be Incognito’s third SingJazz, and, judging by the British acid jazz band’s past two performances here, fans can look forward to a very epic show once again. Formed in 1980, the SingJazz fan favourite has 16 albums under its belt and is responsible for hits such as their 1991 breakthrough cover of Ronnie Laws’ “Always There’ and 1992 “Don’t You Worry ‘bout a Thing”, which snagged No. 6 and No. 19 in the UK respectively. But where Incognito shines most is on the stage. The musical powerhouse, famed for its electrifying performances, has wowed crowds from Sofia to Tokyo, London to Sao Paulo.

Joss Stone

Joss Stone has been obsessed with soul music since she was a little girl. She made her arrival on the world stage with her sophomore album, Mind Body & Soul in 2004. Her critically acclaimed album earned Stone three Grammy nominations, including one for Best New Artist. It also spawned a self-penned UK Top 10 single, “You Had Me”, and earned her Two Brit Awards that same year. With over 12 million album sales to date and a wealth of experience under her belt, she is a force to be reckoned with.
Jeremy Monteiro

Jeremy Monteiro & Friends feat. Nancy Kelly

One of the best-known jazz pianists in South-east Asia, Jeremy Monteiro has played at prestigious festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival, and with dozens of jazz greats including James Moody and Toots Thielemans, and continues to perform regularly with two-time Grammy Award winning saxophonist Ernie Watts. A regular at Sing Jazz, Jeremy will be taking to the 2016 stage with the Barnes Jazz Project.

Vadim Eilenkrig (born 4 May 1971) is a Russian jazz trumpeter and is the soloist of the Igor Butman Big Band.In 2009 he released his first solo album “The Shadow of Your Smile”, which was recorded in the Avatar Studio NY.

Enrico Rava

Enrico Rava is definitely one of the most internationally renowned Italian jazz musicians in the world. Rava started his career in the mid- sixties, quickly establishing himself as one of the most convincing European jazz soloists. His style is immediately recognisable and he has an impressive 100 records to his name.
Héctor Infanzón

Héctor Infanzón

One of the most relevant and complete jazz pianist from Mexico, with classical virtuoso background (superior school of music in mexico) studied at Berklee College of Music, composer and arranger that has played and composed music for the most prestigious symphonic orchestras in Mexico, USA, Indonesia and Vienna. With 35 years of career, Héctor Infanzón is an exceptional pianist that blends the tradition with the contemporary languages.
Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club

Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club

Originating from Havana in Cuba, the Buena Vista Social Club has been tantalizing crowds for 16 years, bringing their enigmatic culture to the world through the stage. Collaborating with Sing Jazz for the Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club® Adiós Tour in Singapore, this final farewell will feature members Omara Portuondo, Guajiro Mirabal, Barbarito Torres, Jesus ‘Aguaje’ Ramos.
Seun Kuti & Egypt 80

Seun Kuti & Egypt 80

Born in 1983, Seun first began performing with Egypt 80 at the age of nine, warming up audiences with renditions of his father’s songs. After Fela’s death in 1997, Seun stepped up to the front of the band, leading the celebrated combo as both lead vocalist and saxophonist. While his father’s influence cannot be understated, Kuti was determined to cut his own distinctive musical path, incorporating contemporary influences into the traditional Afrobeat approach.
