Industry recognition across venue excellence, sustainability and global leadership reinforces Marina Bay Sands’ role in shaping the future of business events
As Singapore works towards its 2040 ambition to triple MICE tourism receipts, success will increasingly hinge on destinations that deliver richer delegate experiences and stronger industry leadership.
Marina Bay Sands has earned recognition across venue innovation, sustainability and industry leadership. The Expo & Convention Centre secured its record 10th ‘Outstanding Event Venue Experience’ award at the Singapore Tourism Awards 2026 by the Singapore Tourism Board, and was named ‘MICE Venue of the Year’ and ‘Sustainability Initiative of the Year’ at the Singapore MICE Awards 2026. Ong Wee Min, Vice President of Sales and MICE, was also inducted into the Events Industry Council (EIC) Hall of Leaders — the global business events industry’s premier lifetime achievement honour. Together, these accolades reflect Marina Bay Sands’ contribution to strengthening Singapore’s position as a leading destination for business events.
Setting New Standards for Event Experiences
The record 10th ‘Outstanding Event Venue Experience’ award recognises Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre’s efforts to redefine how business events are designed and delivered. As delegate expectations move beyond traditional meetings and exhibitions, the venue has led new approaches that pair business objectives with memorable experiences.
This transformation is anchored by Marina Bay Sands’ Event Design Methodology, developed with Event Design Collective, and Asia’s first dedicated Event Design Lab. More than 100 Sales and MICE Team Members have been trained and certified in the methodology, enabling them to work with organisers to create more purposeful, engaging and impactful events.
This approach comes through in events such as Token2049, where Marina Bay Sands helped create a festival-like atmosphere that extended networking beyond the exhibition floor. Delegates experienced Singapore’s culinary culture through hawker pop-ups, while wellness activations — including pickleball courts, an indoor rock-climbing wall, guided meditation sessions and recovery zones — offered new opportunities for engagement and connection.
Through these innovations, Marina Bay Sands shows how experiential programming can deepen connections, encourage collaboration and create lasting impact for global audiences.
Venue Innovation and Operational Excellence

This focus on innovation and execution was further recognised at the Singapore MICE Awards 2026 by the Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (SACEOS).
Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre was named ‘MICE Venue of the Year’ for a record fourth consecutive year since the awards began in 2023, and received ‘Sustainability Initiative of the Year’ in its debut year of participation.
The wins recognise the integrated resort’s ability to deliver world-class business events while advancing more sustainable approaches to venue operations and event design.
A Lifetime Honour for Industry Leadership
Complementing the venue’s achievements is Ong Wee Min’s induction into the 2026 Events Industry Council’s Hall of Leaders. Established in 1985, the programme is regarded as the global business events industry’s premier lifetime achievement honour, recognising individuals whose careers, leadership and innovations have made a lasting impact on the sector. More than 160 professionals have been inducted to date.
The honour places Ong among a distinguished group of leaders whose contributions have helped shape meetings, conventions, exhibitions and hospitality worldwide. He is also among a select group of recipients from Asia to receive the recognition.
Since joining Marina Bay Sands in 2012, Ong has played a pivotal role in strengthening the integrated resort’s MICE business and Singapore’s reputation as a premier business events destination. Under his leadership, the Expo & Convention Centre has continued to innovate, expand its global profile and champion new event formats that respond to the changing needs of organisers and delegates. In 2025 alone, the venue hosted over 2,000 events and nearly 1.4 million delegates.
As Singapore advances its ambition to triple MICE tourism receipts by 2040, Marina Bay Sands remains committed to working with industry partners to elevate the country’s standing as a global business events hub. These honours underscore the integrated resort’s role in shaping more impactful event experiences and supporting the continued growth of Singapore’s MICE sector.
