Universally known for its distinct, well-loved tartan print, the global reign of British luxury brand Burberry continues its Marina Bay Sands store thanks in large part to its iconic trench coat. The legacy of the tartan print was thanks in part to founder Thomas Burberry’s invention of garbadine in 1879 – a permeable, weatherproof and long-lasting fabric that radically changed rainwear production.

Over the years, Burberry has actively participated in charity and social responsibility events. In 2008, the Burberry Foundation was established for general charitable purposes and grant-making. Burberry also celebrated diversity and inclusivity in its February 2018 collection by designing the Rainbow Vintage check, as well as donating to three organisations committed to supporting LGBTQ+ youth worldwide: the Albert Kennedy Trust, the Trevor Project and ILGA.
