Families traveling in Singapore are spoilt for choice in terms of fun activities that bring you out into the fresh air. The best thing about outdoor attractions and activities is that there’s something for everyone. You won’t have to sacrifice fun to keep the whole clan entertained with our handy list!

Bicycle Tour

Eco-friendly city tours

Tour the city but ditch the buses and trishaws by hopping onto a Segway or bicycle. Segway Tours and Lets Go Bike Singapore offer a varied suite of city and suburban tour options for the whole family. It’s also a much more eco-friendly way to get around the city, while preventing sore feet.

Henderson Waves

Park Connectors

Escape the city and head into the lush greenery of Singapore’s many parks. Cycle or walk along the attractive and picturesque Park Connectors, where you’ll encounter canals, streams, quiet residential neighbourhoods, magnificent trees, and charming photo opportunities. Don’t miss highlights such as the Henderson Waves Bridge and the Treetop Walk in the Southern Ridges section of the parks. The National Parks website gives you comprehensive information and maps. All trails are easy to walk for almost any fitness level, child-friendly, and connect conveniently to public transport so that you can hop into a cab whenever you’re feeling tired.

Horsin Around

Horse Riding

Prefer to stay off your feet? Horse riding may not be what immediately comes to mind when you think of this urban island, but there are great ways for kids and adults to exercise their equestrian skills in peaceful surroundings. The Bukit Timah Saddle Club and Gallop Stable are two venues where you can try your hand at horse riding through quiet lanes and with experienced guides. If you’re in Bukit Timah, head over to Turf City where you’ll find a range of dining and shopping options amidst tranquil grounds; and for the more adventurous, historical army barracks tucked away in the forest.

Playground

Old-school playgrounds

Speaking of history, there’s one aspect of Singapore’s heritage which many locals will remember with great fondness: the old-school playground in the heartlands. Many Singaporean children grew up spending their evenings in these playgrounds, with sand pits, see-saws, and whimsically-designed slides and swings. Simply Google ‘heritage playgrounds in Singapore’ and you’ll see many bloggers providing updated lists on their locations. While you’re there, stop by a local coffee shop and grab yourself an iced kopi to complete your experience!

Infinity Pool

Luxury on top of the world

If you’d prefer to spend family time in the lap of luxury, there’s no need to look much further than Marina Bay Sands. The Infinity Pool is a great favourite for the whole family – kids will love splashing about and adults just soak in the view. Make a game of it and see if you can name all the skyscrapers you see, identify all the banks, or count the number of boats and vessels in the bay. At Marina Bay Sands, your imagination can take you anywhere!
