Join us to explore how videogames are changing the world right now and discuss transformative ideas that are shaping the future of one of the most exciting media.

Organised as a companion programme of Virtual Realms: Videogames Transformed during the two-week special event Gameplay, Future Gaming Conference brings together diverse voices from Singapore’s games and interactive media industry in two panels held over two consecutive days.

Day One showcases creativity and innovation in the local game development scene through the practices and award-winning works of videogame creators and studios.

About the Speakers

  • Gwen Guo (Creative Director of Imba Interactive)

    Gwen Guo is a Singapore-based sound designer for video games and Co-founder of Imba Interactive, a game audio studio which contributes high-quality audio to the evolving games industry in Asia. Gwen is also Chairperson of the Singapore Games Association (SGGA). Other game community experiences include being part of the International Game Developers Association Singapore (IGDA|SG) Committee between 2016 and 2018, and kickstarting Game Audio Singapore, a local game audio community aimed to provide knowledge and sharing among students and professionals. 

  • Elicia Lee (Managing Director of Eliphant)

    A veteran of the gaming industry, Elicia Lee started her gaming career at Electronic Arts (EA) handling ecommerce and marketing, which included launching 22 Origin stores across the Asia-Pacific. In 2014 she co-founded Eliphant, which is today a leading game marketing, events and esports service provider in Asia. Eliphant is the organiser of GameStart, Southeast Asia's premier gaming convention, and SEA Major, the largest fighting game tournament in the region. Elicia is also Marketing Director at Battlebrew Productions and Vice Chairperson of the Singapore Games Association (SGGA).

  • Syarah Mahmood (Lead Artist at Ubisoft Singapore)

    Syarah Mahmood is a Lead Artist on the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla World team in Singapore and has been working for 5 years at Ubisoft Singapore. She has created level art on Ubisoft titles from the Assassin's Creed franchise such as Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Immortals Fenyx Rising and the recently released Siege of Paris DLC expansion for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Creating immersive and beautiful worlds with heart and spirit are her forte, together in close collaboration with a dynamic, creative team of talented artists and designers who work and play hard across international boundaries. Outside the realm of world building and art, she can also be found painting, playing bass riffs and roller skating.

  • Abel Tan (Producer at Mighty Bear Games)

    An ex-competitive gamer, Abel Tan worked at Nonstop Games as well as a number of independent studios in Singapore before joining Mighty Bear Games as Producer. Guided by AAA expertise and a mobile-first flexibility, Mighty Bear’s games combine the depth of desktop gaming with pick-up-and-play accessibility to bring the future of online multiplayer to a universal audience. Abel makes sure the studio’s games feel amazing, are fun to play and arrive on time.

  • Tammy Tang [CEO of Female Esports League (FSL)]

    Tammy “furryfish” Tang is a pioneer esports figure in Singapore who founded Team Asterisk*, the first all-female esports team competing in DotA and DotA 2. Tammy also founded FSL League, which is currently the longest running league for women gamers in SEA. She has worked in the esports industry in various capacities – as team manager, team captain, professional gamer, streamer, influencer and esports event manager – and has worked with international brands such as Corsair, Razer, UniQlo and Secret Lab.

     

  • Shawn Toh (CEO and Design Director at Battlebrew Productions)

    Shawn Toh is a Game Designer who previously led teams in successful mobile game companies such as Nubee and Gumi Asia. He later went on to Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) Game Lab as an Associate Producer. Shawn is currently leading a passionate crew of creators and crafters at the multi-award-winning studio BattleBrew Productions who are working on the next generation of games, one of which is part of the exclusive Apple Arcade worldwide selection. Their latest announced title, Noodle SouperStar, picked up 2 awards last year at GDC and PGC.

  • Sabrina Torres (Head of People for Riot Games in SEA)

    Sabrina serves as the Head of People for Riot Games in Southeast Asia, overseeing all human resources programmes, initiatives, and strategies for the team, including organisational design, diversity and inclusion, employee engagement, performance and talent management, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, and more. Prior to her role at Riot Games, Sabrina was an HR Business Partner at the Boeing Company in Huntington Beach, California in the US.

  • Desmond Wong (CEO, Artist and Game Designer at The Gentlebros)

    Desmond Wong is one of the co-founders of indie game studio The Gentlebros that is behind the award-winning Cat Quest franchise and Slashy Hero. Originally from Koei Tecmo, Desmond has worked as an artist on titles such as Dead or Alive, Hyrule Warriors and Dynasty Warriors. He now just wants to make games about cats.
