Explore the roots of sneaker and street culture through the lens of cinema – from iconic blockbusters to indie titles, come take a closer peek at how films play such a pivotal role in fashion, style and sweet kicks.
Long before social media, the original trailblazers of streetwear were the characters on screen that we’ve all come to grow along with and love – from the looney warpspeed Air Jordan antics in Space Jam to the sleek nanotech memory-sandals in Black Panther, somehow these scenes are forever seared in our memories and get talked about for generations to come.
Yet in these small and seemingly passing scenes, entire trends, releases, re-releases and anniversary editions make their way into pop culture annals and everyday life – and it’s this alchemy of form, function, style, technology and promises of a future within our grasp that pushes street culture to the forefront of each zeitgeist, celebrated for the many years that would follow.
