Evolver is a virtual reality experience by Marshmallow Laser Feast that takes you deep into the landscape of the body, following the flow of oxygen through our branching ecosystem to its origin – a single ‘breathing cell’ among the trillion of cells that sustain us.

This journey takes viewers through the processes that sustain life as air travels from our mouth to lungs, whirling like a tornado, before circulating around the complex rivers and tributaries of the cardiovascular system. As this life force reaches the outer extremities, traverse through the billowing synapses of the brain, into the tips of the fingers and toes, and see how the interior blooms into a forest of branching pathways – illuminated just by a breath of life-giving oxygen.

In this immersive journey, see how breath not only sparks life but also connects us to the natural world through the cycle of respiration.

Executive produced by Edward R. Pressman and Terrence Malick, featuring voice over by Cate Blanchett and music by Jonny Greenwood, Meredith Monk, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Howard Skempton and Jon Hopkins.

About Marshmallow Laser Feast

Marshmallow Laser Feast (MLF) is an experiential artist collective. They believe in the power of stories to tickle senses and shift perceptions. Their work takes people on a multisensory journey to where imagination and information collide.

From coders to poets, chemists to ventriloquists, brands to institutions, they collaborate with specialists in all disciplines. To explore new forms of culture, interrogate their relationship with the world around them and leave a glittery slug trail as they journey through the cosmos.

They’ve exhibited internationally at institutions including: ACMI (2022), Aviva Studios (2024), Barbican Centre (2022), DDB Seoul, Espacio Fundación Telefónica (2025), Museum of the Future (Permanent), PHI Centre (2022), Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (2025), Sundance Film Festival (2019), SXSW (2018) and Yorkshire Sculpture Park (2025).
