Spotlight Gallery Talks

FUTURE WORLD: WHERE ART MEETS SCIENCE

Family Fridays - 14 September | 3.00pm - 4.00pm 
Venue: Future World: Where Art Meets Science, Various Zones

Boundaries between art and technology are becoming increasingly blurred as new grounds are broken in digital artistic expression. Discover the ideas and themes in our permanent exhibition through this series of lively spotlight talks. Join us for interactive play happening at various exhibition zones.

Public Guided Tours

WIND WALKERS: THEO JANSEN’S STRANDBEESTS

English Public Guided Tours
Family Fridays - 07, 21 & 28 September| 3.00pm - 3.45pm
Venue: Exhibition Entrance, Level 3

Join us for a fascinating tour through the universe of Theo Jansen, featuring animations of his famed strandbeests and rich insights into how mathematical formulas and seemingly-ordinary materials create extraordinary creatures with a life of their own.

*Complimentary to ticket-holders of Theo Jansen. Up to 25 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration stickers will be given out five minutes before tour begins at exhibition entrance.


Workshops

PLAYMAKING SESSION

Family Friday - 21 & 28 September | 4.30pm - 5.30pm
Venue: Rainbow Room, Basement 2

Inspired by Theo Jansen’s creation of the Strandbeest which are made from seemingly ordinary materials. In a playmaking session, students will be able to create their designs, experiment with bold and simple engineering in a free and open-ended session.

* $5 per participant. Up to 20 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.

BE THE BUZZ! BEHIND THE BAG

Family Friday - 7 & 14 September l 4.30pm - 5.30pm
Venue: Education Classroom, Basement 

How do you illustrate noise on a piece of silent medium? Whaaaaam! Learn more about sound representations in comics and how you can translate that idea into a stunning piece of art on a tote bag. *This is a special edition of our popular series of Make Your Own workshops.

* $5 per participant, up to 20 participants per session on a first-come, first-served basis.
