Become an environmentally conscious inventor and build sea vessels of the future in our very own “fabrication lab” this school holiday!

Join ArtScientist-In-Residence Cesar Jung-Harada and be part of a growing community of art and science inventor-entrepreneurs as you uncover the power of your creativity to design vehicles and machines aimed at solving our climate crisis. From conceptualisation to fabrication, learn the process and hands-on skills to bring your imagination from mind to paper to working model. Participants will “graduate” having had the chance to transform everyday materials–with the addition of modular technology–into their very own versions of Cesar’s pioneering inventions.

Each 3-day hackathon holiday camp will draw from one of Cesar’s ongoing projects.

27 – 29 May 2023 | Indigenous Future Outrigger

Learn about state-of-the-art sailing technology! The Indigenous Future Outrigger project reimagines our relationship and cultural connections to the waters around us by integrating local ship-building customs with high-tech environmentally sustainable sailing technology.

2 – 4 Jun 2023 | Ocean Solar Hydrogen

Discover how hydrogen could be the fuel of the future in coastal cities like Singapore! The Ocean Solar Hydrogen project looks at our oceans as untapped sources of sustainable energy by using solar power to electrolyze hydrogen gas from seawater.

16 – 18 Jun 2023 | Shape Shifting Sailing

Design your own shape-shifting boat inspired by evolution millions of years in the making–swimming fish! Find out first-hand how biomimetic technology, inspired by the natural world, can be used to make seafaring safer and more energy efficient.

23 – 25 Jun 2023 | Ocean Train

Drawing inspiration from freight trains, learn how robotics, team coordination, and a little bit of creative thinking can revolutionise the maritime shipping industry.
