In a world shaped by rapid technological advancement, shifting urban realities, and complex global systems, how can the arts help young people make sense of it all? This panel explores how film, performance, and artistic research can serve as powerful tools for engaging youth with emerging technologies, such as quantum science, AI and engineering, while also offering critical perspectives on the broader societal transformations these technologies are part of. Through diverse lenses, our panelists will discuss how creative practices can illuminate the invisible, challenge dominant narratives, and empower the next generation to imagine alternative futures.

The Circus of Knowledge recounts extraordinary chapters in the lives of important scientists and scholars. This poetic Kamishibai performance focuses on mathematician and inventor Ada Byron Lovelace. She developed the world's first computer program almost 200 years ago and was the first person to realize what a computer would one day be able to do. She was passionate about mathematics and mechanical machines from a young age and even designed her own flying machine! Ada was an exceptionally bright and creative child who did not fit into a patriarchal, male-dominated world.
This beautiful story is narrated by Ali Mayer-Pernkopf, an Austrian puppeteer and storyteller.
Kamishibai – Ada Lovelace is suitable for ages 5 years and up.
The Circus of Knowledge is an Austrian performance group based at Johannes Kepler University, Linz that blends science, art and storytelling. Through their creative shows and workshops, they make complex ideas engaging and accessible for audiences of all ages.
In the Ether – A Festival of Quantum Science and Technology, celebrates a century of quantum mechanics—a field that continues to revolutionise our understanding of the world and shape the technologies that define our future.
