Best High Tea Sets at Marina Bay SandsBest High Tea Sets at Marina Bay Sands

High tea sets these days are outdoing themselves – and each other – with creative permutations of what used to primarily comprise scones and finger sandwiches. We round up some of our favourites for your picking.
Renku Bar & Lounge

Renku Bar & Lounge

A personalised tea service from a tea master marks the start of your Renku high tea ($48++ per pax, daily 2-3.30pm and 4-5.30pm) experience. Fine finger sandwiches – dressed up with everything from albacore tuna and olive tapenade to a tomato, burrata and macadamia pesto option – are accompanied by a selection of petits gateaux, scones, pralines and chocolate bonbons. But save your space for the mignardises, bite-sized sweets including lemon madeleines, coconut congolais and chocolate moelleux that’ll surely satiate even the most hardened sugar addicts.

Renku Bar & Lounge is at the Hotel Lobby at Marina Bay Sands, Tower 1. More details here.

Coco Chanel and French novelist Marcel Proust are among the distinguished who once dined at Angelina, so named after its Austrian owner’s daughter-in-law in 1903. And its tea set menu ($35++, daily 2.30pm to 6.30pm) is an excellent sampler of the tea room's best, with all manner of macaroon, mini tarte citron, vegetable quiche and finger sandwiches to savour. For a more indulgent treat, try the signature Mont-Blanc ($15++) that’s built from meringue, light whipped cream and chestnut cream vermicelli. Pair it with the tea room’s famed old-fashioned hot chocolate ‘L’Africain’ ($13++) that’s made from three kinds of African cocoa.

Angelina is at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, B2-89/89A (Canal Level). More details here.

TWG Tea Salon & Boutique

The homegrown TWG Tea Salon & Boutique’s earned a name for itself with its impressive selection of over 800 tea harvests and blends, the largest in the world. And little better accompaniment to the Parisian Tea Set ($68++ for two pax, all-day daily) than the assortment of tea-infused pastries and sandwiches served alongside. TWG’s scones – with moreish, crumbly edges that yield to reveal buttery yet hefty insides – are a dream with its signature tea jelly and whipped cream.

TWG Tea Salon & Boutique is at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, B2-65 (Canal Level) and B1-122 (Galleria Level). More details here.
