Come celebrate the sneaker as a symbol for creativity and expression in this closing programme of Sneakertopia: Step Into Street Culture exhibition.
Explore the phenomenon of urban culture through a variety of perspectives. Deep dive into stories of Singapore’s urban arts and creative scene in a series of in-gallery talks by the exhibition’s artists and creatives. Hear more about the making of Sneakertopia and get insights into the artworks and collections in the curator’s tour. Soak up electronic beats and good moods in the euphoric closing party of DJ sets.
Sole Seeker’s line-up features visual artist Dawn Ang (Aeropalmics); Founder and CEO of Limited Edt Mandeep Chopra; designer Josiah Chua; visual and urban artist Toby Tan (tobyato); William Chan and Alvin Tan from contemporary art and design collective PHUNK; Cherry Chan and Jonathan Nah (DJ Kiat) from artist collective Syndicate; multidisciplinary artist weish; electronic music producer and DJ Intriguant; and musician Calvin Phua.
Programmes unfold across various dates and locations at ArtScience Museum.

Peek under the hood of the creative minds in Sneakertopia in this artist-led tour that revolves around stories of creative practices and artistic expression.
Visual artists Dawn Ang (Aeropalmics) and Toby Tan (tobyato) as well as designer Josiah Chua discuss their processes and philosophies, and talk about how their artworks in the exhibition draw inspiration from popular culture and the street.

Led by Deborah Lim (Curator, Exhibitions at ArtScience Museum), walk through this larger-than-life exhibition which unfolds as dynamic playground where sneakers, street culture and art intersect. Trace the history of sneaker culture and hear about its multi-faceted connections with art, hip-hop, fashion, entertainment, technology and sports. Explore how this iteration of the exhibition at ArtScience Museum showcases creatives who have helped to establish the rise of sneaker and street culture in Singapore and Southeast Asia.

In this concluding Sneakertopia Spotlight Tour, custodians of urban subcultures bring about broad, eclectic conversations on streetwear, music, art and design.
Explore PHUNK’s new artwork with its co-founders William Chan and Alvin Tan; glimpse into Limited Edt’s archive of rare sneakers with the brand’s founder and CEO Mandeep Chopra; and hear about the making of the exhibition’s DJ mixtape from Syndicate’s DJ Kiat. Together, they represent some of the most successful hybrid creatives who have been shaping Singapore’s urban scene in the last two to three decades.

She has also completed commissions by Google, Facebook, Nike and other global brands.
is a fashion stylist and designer who approaches his work by combining unexpected details in a singular creation to generate eclectic outcomes that create fresh perspectives. He was awarded Best Experimental Design Award by The Peranakan Museum for his redesign of the sarong kebaya. A one-of-akind piece from his label, Josiah, was famously picked up by Lady Gaga.
is a visual artist illustrating his way through sprawling wall murals and artist-brand collaborations. His artworks are often bold, striking and inspired by traditional Asian motifs with playful influences that reflect both his own heritage and personality. As a lover of street culture, he has worked with brands such as ASICS, Samsung, Levi’s, and HUGO among others.
singlehandedly cultivated the sneaker scene with Limited Edt’s first store in 2003. Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, Limited Edt has been at the forefront of the sneaker and street culture scene. Under his creative vision, the brand has engaged in high-profile sneaker collaborations inspired by different aspects of Singapore, with other major brands such as adidas, New Balance, Puma, ASICS, Vans and Reebok.
is an internationally acclaimed, Singapore-based contemporary design and art collective founded in 1994 by Alvin Tan, Melvin Chee, Jackson Tan and William Chan. PHUNK’s art appropriates, deconstructs and transforms a variety of local and global popular cultural and media constructs. PHUNK’s creative activity moves constantly across boundaries, from art-making to curation, graphic design to filmmaking. They have designed for major brands such as Hermes, Nike, Netflix, Rolls Royce, The Rolling Stones and many others.
has been a driving force in Singapore’s electronic dance music scene, seeding communities through his co-founding of collectives including Syndicate. With an ethos focused on experimentation and self-expression, Syndicate is Singapore’s foremost forward-thinking audiovisual collective and independent record label. Its artists have presented a diverse spectrum of projects, such as live electronic music showcases, projection mapping, art installations and photography.
