Marina Bay Carnival: Your Ultimate Guide

 26 Apr 2019

Ready to set your heart racing? The return of the Prudential Marina Bay Carnival brings with it a host of new rides and nosh for both couples and families, on top of the previous edition’s most popular rides: the Star Flyer and adrenalin-inducing Mach 5.

After, make for Spectra, a free nightly light and water show at Marina Bay Sands that’s just minutes away, or – if you don’t mind the stroll – Gardens by the Bay for its Garden Rhapsody display.

Price List and Credits

You’ll have to purchase credits in order to get in on the fun. It costs S$1 per credit (issued on an RFID card), with a minimum purchase of 10 credits for a new card. Subsequently, the minimum top-up is 1 credit.

Food and drinks can also be purchased with credits or, alternatively, via the GrabFood app. We reckon the latter’s a better option; it’s S$18 off for first-time users, the only caveat being you’ll have to sync your credit card in order to enjoy the discount.

Rides

Of the 19 rides at the carnival – ten of which are for kids, including train rides and a mini Wave Swinger – these are a selection of our favourites.

Wave Swinger

Don’t let its looks deceive you; the Wave Swinger is one heck of a thrilling ride that spins at sharp angles – and at top speed, to boot.

Jumper Jumper

You’ll hear it before you see it: thumping music, led by a chorus of screams as the ride goes through a series of rapid drops.

Das Fun Schiff

All hail the Viking boat ride that – at its steepest incline – reaches 70 degrees. It’s swashbuckling fun, and a good gauge of how you’d fare if ever you found yourself stranded in choppy seas.

Spring Break (Freak Out)

This ride knows no bounds, which means you’ll essentially be spinning in free-fall – at in all directions – at an incline of up to 90 degrees.

Games

Last edition’s well-loved ring toss makes a return – because who wouldn’t want a chance at lugging home a grotesquely oversized unicorn stuffed toy? Beyond, the carnival has 25 games for your picking, including bumper cars, circle darts and long range basketball.

Have a swell time playing bumper cars (above), or try your hand at a spot of circle darts to snag a shiny donut stuffed cushion (below).
