The palm-fringed Palawan Beach is arguably Sentosa’s most beautiful, and one of the most picturesque beaches of Singapore as a whole. It's also very family-orientated; take your kids to Palawan Pirate Ship or Port of Lost Wonder, both of which are pirate-themed water playgrounds. Or try these outdoor activities for the whole family.
Palawan Beach also has a low suspension bridge strung over turquoise waters that connects you to the southernmost tip of Continental Asia. Be sure to ascend the tower for panoramic views of Sentosa.
Singapore’s mainland beaches might not hold the same beauty as those on Sentosa, but they’re typically more diverse, with wider spots to park a picnic mat on for a quiet afternoon.
Punggol Beach is steeped in history, being one of three sites in Singapore where Operation Sook Ching took place in 1942 during the Japanese occupation. For a dose of the past, along with picturesque views of a sandy bay and its signature rocks, this beach is a must-visit – and makes for one of the most romantic areas in Singapore, especially at sunrise and sunset.
Changi Beach is a 3.2 km strip of golden sand between Changi Point and Changi Ferry Terminal. More popular due to its open space and better facilities, you’ll spot airplanes cruising low over the sands to the runway just behind.
If you’re looking for family-friendly activities, head to the 15km-long beach at East Coast Park – it’s still the local favourite among Singapore’s public beaches, thanks to its array of amenities. Rent a bike, try your hand at cable skiiing or mini golf and go for a skate, then unwind in your pitched tent after. Yep, East Coast Park is a popular camping spot, although applying for a license online prior to your stay is mandatory.
