Marina Bay Sands has been awarded the highly lauded SafeGuard™ Hygiene Excellence and Safety Label by Bureau Veritas (BV), a nearly 200-year-old world-leader in testing, inspection and certification, following a rigorous certification process and field audits conducted across the integrated resort (IR) in July.
The certification further reinforces the IR’s commitment to meet best-in-class hygiene and safety standards within the international hospitality industry, and supports on-going efforts to raise the bar in cleanliness levels across its venues and attractions including the Hotel, The Shoppes, Sands Theatre, Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Sands SkyPark, ArtScience Museum, the Casino and restaurants.
What is the BV SafeGuard™ Hygiene Excellence and Safety Label?
The BV SafeGuard™ Hygiene Excellence and Safety Label is designed to support the operational restart activities in the hospitality and restaurant industries globally. It is awarded to a site following independent verification of compliance with a rigorous sanitary protocol by a qualified Bureau Veritas auditor. As a recipient of this Label, Marina Bay Sands has demonstrated that it has achieved set standards that keep hygiene and safety at the forefront, and mitigated the risk of virus spread across property. The SafeGuard™ Label is also part of the “Restart Your Business with BV” programme, which has certified more than 130 businesses globally to date.
What does the audit process involve?
As part of the audit process, Bureau Veritas reviewed the implementation of the integrated resort’s safety and hygiene protocols, which include standard operating procedures on social distancing and cleaning; guidance in using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); staff training, as well as communications. As an independent third-party partner to Marina Bay Sands, BV also ensures that the IR follows industry best practices, local laws and requirements, and leading medical expertise to achieve hygiene excellence.
