Spectra in Marina Bay Sands

Location

Whether you’re looking to bar-hop at Club Street along Chinatown or sip a devilishly good cocktail with the best views in Singapore, the adventures are endless. The best nightlife in Singapore starts in the centre, where it keeps you coming back for more.

One of Singapore’s three riverside jaunts, Boat Quay is a place where culture meets delicious food and drinks. You can choose from a plethora of riverside restaurants or even jump onto a bumboat cruise that takes you down the river to more dining and nightlife options at Marina Bay.

Further up the Singapore River is another popular nightlife destination, Clarke Quay. Housing a lively dining and party scene, Clarke Quay is known for its line-up of popular restaurants, live music and crowd-pulling nightclub venues.

If you prefer a post-shopping tipple, Orchard Road offers more than just malls and retail therapy. The dining options seem endless here, with quaint little shophouses converted into bars, and exquisite restaurants and cafes that will entertain you with live music and happy-hour deals!

Abuzz with people, both Holland Village and Dempsey Hill are full of hip cafes, clubs and breweries to visit at sundown. The old army barracks add a world of charm to this location, and the ambience becomes even more appealing during the evening.

The beaches of Sentosa are worth visiting, as is the nightlife on them. Housing some of the top beach clubs in the world with best-in-class parties, delish food and drinks choices, here you will find a mix of international hotels and beach-side restaurants. Bringing your kids along? The beach clubs are known to be child-friendly, and accommodate plenty of young guests on a regular basis.

Office-goers love the access that Singapore’s CBD (Central Business District) area  provides to the nightlife of the city. Come sundown and you will see hordes of people moving from workplaces to their favourite bars, dining nooks and stunning alfresco venues. One of the most popular rooftop bars in Singapore,  CÉ LA VI is located atop Sands SkyPark, and is a must-visit. Alternatively check out Spago or Lavo, where you can indulge in best-in-class cocktails while taking in some of the sublime views in Singapore. If you prefer something closer to the ground, head to the Waterfront bars in Marina Bay where you can enjoy the free ‘Spectra’ light show.

You can also consider bar and restaurant hopping at Club Street, Ann Siang Hill, Keong Saik Road and Duxton Hill — Singapore's go-to neighbourhoods for quaint, memorable drinking venues.

Dress code, operating hours and transport

You need to be 18 years of age to legally drink in Singapore. Also, drinking and driving is against the law with Singapore's legal alcohol limit being 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood (.08%).

As far as dress codes go, Singapore has minimal rules around how you dress up for dining or entertainment. However, most clubs and upscale restaurants do enforce a smart-casual dress code — meaning no shorts, flip flops or beachwear allowed. It is advisable to call or check the website in advance and confirm if your venue of choice has a dress code at all.

The nightlife scene in Singapore may seem non-stop but we recommend looking up the operating hours of your party venue or restaurant online or via phone. Some food and beverage outlets, including bars, can also be closed on a Monday, so it is always a good idea to check before you visit!

Most restaurants and bars in Singapore operate from early evening to late night so don’t worry, you will find a place to eat and party in Singapore, whatever the time. Should you run out of dining options, there are a several eateries that operate 24x7 and serve delicious meals such as Singapore’s famous Roti Prata and make for a perfect post-party meal.

Singapore is known as one of the safest and most convenient cities in the world, and its reliable transport services run through the night, across the island. (Grab and gojek)

Train and bus services operate from 5:30 am to 12:30 am the following day, but you’ll find taxi and private transport companies, such as Grab and Gojek, working round the clock. Alternatively, you can speak to your hotel or dining concierge who can book you a taxi or limo that takes you to your next nightlife destination in the city!
