Conversations: Dr Peter Jenni

Dr Peter Jenni is an experimental particle physicist with CERN and a former spokesperson of ATLAS Collaboration. He is best known as one of the ‘founding fathers’ of the ATLAS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider together with a few other colleagues. Join Dr Jenni as he traces the history of the LHC Project, the accelerator and associated general-purpose experiments, the discovery of the Higgs boson, and the outlook. He will illustrate main ideas, technical challenges and achievements of this incredible scientific and human adventure that already spans three decades.

Join us on a tour to discover how studying the subatomic world can point the way to a fuller understanding of our universe, see history being made, to stand in the heart of a collision, and witness a moment of discovery.

Complimentary to ticket-holders of Collider. Up to 25 visitors on a first come, first served basis. Stickers will be given out five minutes before tour begins.

Build Your Own Universe

Learn about atomic structures and the history of our universe, from the Big Bang to the end of time using a very simple tool – the LEGO. Developed by Dr. Ben Still.

Suitable for children aged 6 and up. Up to 20 visitors on a first come, first served basis. Registration begins 15 minutes before, at workshop space.

ArtScience Museum launches its new moving-image gallery with a documentary by Mark Levinson: Particle Fever. Seen through the eyes of 6 CERN scientists, this 2013 documentary follows the preparation and launch of the Large Hadron Collider, the biggest experiment in history!
