Marina Bay Sands drives sustainability through our Sands Eco360 Global Sustainability Program, a global strategy with the objective to continuously improve the stewardship of our business, the environment and the community. Our principles are:

  • Resource Management and Conservation: We are dedicated to the preservation of the environment and conservation of natural resources.
  • Business Integration: We will integrate environmentally sustainable and socially responsible practices into our daily business activities with our supply chain.

  • Acquired ISO20121 for event sustainability management systems on 26 February 2014
  • Becoming the first venue in Singapore for this certification.
  • Acquired Earthcheck Silver certification in May 2014.
  • Improved property recycling rate by 9% from the 2012 baseline in November 2014.
  • Reduced water consumption per visitor by 7.8% from the 2012 baseline by the end of 2014.
  • Achieved TM participation of 55% in sustainable events by the end of 2014


  • Acquired APEX/ASTM Level 1 certification for sustainability meetings in July 2013, becoming the first venue outside of the US to acquire this certification.
  • Banned the use of shark fin in our own restaurants’ menu and in the MICE event menu in October 2013.
  • Reduced carbon emission by 9% from the 2012 baseline by the end of 2013.
  • 31% of purchases have met the Sustainable Procurement Policy criteria in 2013.
  • Achieved TM participation of 50% in sustainable events by the end of 2013.


  • Sustainability Department officially started operation in January 2012.
  • Launched a company-wide education programme to raise awareness of sustainability and encourage environmentally-friendly behavior since February 2012.
  • Plan to reduce water consumption by 2% from 2012 baseline by the end of 2015.
  • Acquired Greenmark Gold Award in 3 March 2012, becoming the largest single Green Mark Building in Singapore to be certified.
  • Acquired Earthcheck bronze benchmarking certification in May 2012. Earthcheck benchmarks our sustainability work against internationally recognized standard.
