Ready to snap some seriously Instagram-worthy shots around Singapore? There’s no better place than in the Marina Bay area.
With its avant-garde eyewear, South Korean sunglass cult label Gentle Monster has earned a loyal following – and not just among K-wave stars and A-listers. We reckon the real showstopper is the brand's behemoth of an art installation, though; curious, mechanically-operated beasts that were designed around the premise of data addiction.
If these strange creatures somehow manage to summon your appetite, there’re plenty to nosh on around Marina Bay Sands. Try a loaded CrazyShake at Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer, then make for Canton Paradise or Imperial Treasure for a spot of dim sum and afternoon tea. These excellent high tea sets could also be up your alley.
Located several minutes’ walk from Marina Bay Sands, the sprawling, 101-hectare Gardens by the Bay is a manmade oasis replete with quiet areas to unwind in – whether beneath Avatar-like Supertrees or in a domed observatory on a weekday afternoon.
You’re here for the photos, though, so make for the OCBC Skyway (accessible for a small fee), or locate a well-framed spot in the Supertree Grove. Take cues from @_traveliri by posing for your shot during golden hour, or shortly before sunset – that's when the light hits the area in the best places, at once softening sharp angles with warm golden hues.
While you're exploring around, be sure to squeeze in some of these top things to do around Marina Bay.
