TOP INSTAGRAMMABLE SPOTS IN MARINA BAY

Ready to snap some seriously Instagram-worthy shots around Singapore? There’s no better place than in the Marina Bay area.

ArtScience Museum

Its distinct lotus-shaped facade makes the ArtScience Museum an Instagram opportunity in itself, but housed within are interactive exhibitions that offer yet more picture-perfect shots. Immerse yourself in a world of art, science, magic and metaphor through a collection of digital interactive installation at Future World, a permanent exhibition in collaboration with teamLab, a renowned interdisciplinary art collective.

Gentle Monster

Gentle Monster

With its avant-garde eyewear, South Korean sunglass cult label Gentle Monster has earned a loyal following – and not just among K-wave stars and A-listers. We reckon the real showstopper is the brand's behemoth of an art installation, though; curious, mechanically-operated beasts that were designed around the premise of data addiction.

If these strange creatures somehow manage to summon your appetite, there’re plenty to nosh on around Marina Bay Sands. Try a loaded CrazyShake at Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer, then make for Canton Paradise or Imperial Treasure for a spot of dim sum and afternoon tea. These excellent high tea sets could also be up your alley.

Sands SkyPark

Admiring Singapore’s streets isn’t hard work; from the restored Peranakan-style shophouses along Joo Chiat/Katong to the lanterns strung across history-steeped Chinatown, photo ops lie at every turn. If you’re in need of new perspective, though, think higher – specifically, 57 storeys higher, at Sands SkyPark. Apart from boasting the world’s largest rooftop Infinity Pool, the area holds restaurants, rooftop bars and clubs, and an Observation Deck with unrivalled views of the Singapore Strait and city.

Nab a shot like @kvdenn’s by popping up for a Social Hour sundowner at LAVO Italian Restaurant & Rooftop Bar or Spago Bar & Lounge. Hoist your drink up and toast to the good life, then snap your winning shot while you’re at it.

If you’d rather emulate @inorman's Instagram-worthy picture, you’ll firstly need a drone – which we’d recommend flying from Gardens by the Bay. Be sure to note the regulations and permitted locations for recreational drone-flying to avoid hefty fines of up to $20,000.

Gardens by the Bay

Located several minutes’ walk from Marina Bay Sands, the sprawling, 101-hectare Gardens by the Bay is a manmade oasis replete with quiet areas to unwind in – whether beneath Avatar-like Supertrees or in a domed observatory on a weekday afternoon.

You’re here for the photos, though, so make for the OCBC Skyway (accessible for a small fee), or locate a well-framed spot in the Supertree Grove. Take cues from @_traveliri by posing for your shot during golden hour, or shortly before sunset – that's when the light hits the area in the best places, at once softening sharp angles with warm golden hues.

While you're exploring around, be sure to squeeze in some of these top things to do around Marina Bay.
