Besides being healthy for you, locally grown produce is also healthy for the environment; they promote sustainability by reducing the carbon emissions required for transportation.

For a truly local and healthy meal, round off your meal with locally brewed kombucha from Kombynation Co. Though fermented tea, otherwise known as Kombucha, sounds less than appealing, the drink provides a great source of probotics and antioxidants.

Located at ArtScience Museum, SweetSpot features a wholesome menu that's created with your wellness in mind. Choose from their range of signature salads, with classics like Caesar Salad ($14) and satisfying favourites like Wafu Salad with Fish ($18), with a base of mixed mesclun and buckwheat noodles, served with edamame, fish of the day, heirloom tomato, furikake, topped with a drizzle of delicious yuzu shoyu dressing. Better yet, build your own salad bowl ($16) with your choice of base, greens, antipasto, topping, and dressing. For a full meal, add a warm protein to your salad for an additional $2.

One such innovator changing the game is California-based Impossible Foods Inc. These gastro geniuses have found a way to give their pure plant-based protein products the taste, texture, and characteristics of meat, which was previously thought impossible. Even more surprising is that Impossible's meat-free treats contain no gluten, cholesterol, or antibiotics, and reduce the drain on resources associated with traditional animal farming for gunk and guilt-free food.

Like the man himself, Bread Street Kitchen by Gordon Ramsay is not known for its shy, reserved approach to food. Executive chef Sabrina Stillhart undertook the impressive task of incorporating Impossible's plant-based meat in their menu, creating The Impossible Flatbread (S$24++). Chunks of Impossible meat, loaded melty caramelised onions, rocket pesto, and chopped walnuts for a bit of crunch, all on a gooey, chewy base that gets moreish with every bite. 

No experience at Bread Street Kitchen by Gordon Ramsay restaurant is complete without trying the signature Beef Wellington. Vegetarians can rejoice with the Impossible Wellington (S$39++), a meat-free reimagining of Bread Street Kitchen's menu classic. Crammed with Impossible plant-based meat, nestled in layers of herbed crepes and mushrooms before being hugged by a beautifully golden, flaky crust, this dish is fit for all to enjoy. Served alongside mash and red wine glazed carrots, it is truly a fabulous, meat-free alternative to the real deal.

Black Tap Burgers & Craft Beer

 

Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer

Burgers are a staple of any enjoyable meal, but too much of a good thing, no matter how delicious and juicy, can ruin your waistline. Thankfully, the Impossible All-American Burger by Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer is the definition of a guilt-free guilty pleasure. The party kicks off with the patty, a seven-ounce, meatless plant-based wonder, lightly seasoned to bring out the flavours. It's then seared to a pleasing deep brown and crowned with Monterey Jack cheese and hit with a splash of smoked bacon ketchup. All served with a side of golden, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside chips.
